Greater NW Houston mamas, this month's featured mom is someone who truly walks alongside families during life's most meaningful moments. Meet Jen Anderson, the heart behind Lone Star Birth LLC, serving families in Cypress and beyond with compassion, education, and unwavering support.

A Heart for Families and Faith

Jen was born in Arkansas, raised in Washington, and made her way to Texas in 2017. She and her husband KJ have been married since 2008 and are raising a beautifully busy family of six with kiddos ranging from 10 to 15, plus a bonus stepson.

Alongside running her business, Jen just completed midwifery school and passed her final exam, which she is well on her way to earning her CPM(Certified Professional Midwife) credential! It is truly a family effort, with her husband playing a huge role behind the scenes helping with finances, admin, and logistics, all while working full time in his own demanding career.

From Personal Experience to Purpose

Jen's journey into birth work began after the birth of her first daughter in 2010. After feeling dismissed by a provider, it was her doula and midwives who stepped in and changed everything.

They listened. They supported. They empowered.

That experience sparked a calling in Jen to ensure other moms never feel alone or unheard in their birth journeys.

After years of working independently as a birth and postpartum doula, Jen felt called to build something bigger. That is how Lone Star Birth LLC was created, not just as a business, but as a network of support.

A Day in the Life

Jen's days start early, getting kids off to school and tackling a few things at home before heading into the office for prenatal visits, birth planning sessions, and consultations.

Evenings are all about family time, dinner together, and getting kids to their activities.

And in between it all, she is on call for births 24/7, 365 days a year. That means holidays, weekends, middle of the night, whenever a baby decides it is time.

Thankfully, Jen has an incredible support system. Her husband jumps in to handle everything at home when she needs to head out at a moment's notice, making it possible for her to fully show up for the families she serves.

The Most Rewarding Part

Jen helps parents move from feeling overwhelmed and unsure to confident and empowered. She guides them through their options, supports their decisions, and celebrates with them as they bring new life into the world.

She also has a special passion for VBACs, helping moms achieve a vaginal birth after cesarean and experience the kind of birth they hoped for.

Balancing It All

One of the hardest parts of this work is the sacrifice. Missing holidays, birthdays, or school events can be tough, but it is part of being on call for families. As her network has grown, Jen has been able to bring on other doulas to provide backup care when she needs to be present for her own family.

Build a business that fits your life, not the other way around.

Give yourself grace when things are not perfect.

Surround yourself with people who support and encourage you.

Life Outside of Work

When Jen is not supporting families, she is pouring into her own. This crew loves gardening, spending time with their many animals, and getting outside together. From fishing and backyard soccer to traveling the world, they make the most of their time as a family.

Their heart for serving others shines through in everything they do, from church and volunteer work to opening their home to exchange students, foster children, and even families in need.

They also make it a priority to invest in their marriage with regular date nights, something every mama can appreciate.
