At Macaroni KID, we love celebrating incredible moms who are not only raising amazing kids but also building businesses that make our community brighter. This month, we're thrilled to introduce you to Sara Ayala, a local mom of twins and the creative force behind Twice As Nice HTX, an event decor business that's making celebrations across Houston unforgettable.

Meet Sara
Sara Ayala was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and raised right here in Houston, Texas. In 2017, she moved to the Vintage Park area and, along with her high school sweetheart (now husband) Carlos, planted roots by purchasing their home in 2020. The couple is now navigating life with their adorable almost-three-year-old twins, Eliana and Elijah—miracle babies who arrived after a journey through infertility.

Before launching her business, Sara worked as a kindergarten teacher and later in case management. Like many moms, her world shifted completely when her twins were born—and so did her career path.
Life as a Mompreneur
As a stay-at-home mom, Sara's days are full—think breakfast, adventures (with snacks, of course), lunchtime, naps, playtime, and squeezing in business errands wherever she can. “When I have an event booked, there’s a ton of running around added to our day,” she explains.
Despite the busy schedule, rediscovering her passion through Twice As Nice has been incredibly healing. “After having the twins, I experienced postpartum depression and anxiety. I felt like a shell of who I used to be. Eventually, I realized I wasn’t supposed to ‘bounce back’—I was becoming someone new, a mom, with a fresh perspective on life.”
How Twice As Nice HTX Was Born
“I’ve always been a really crafty person,” Sara shares. “I actually tried getting into event decorating once before, but the timing just wasn’t right.” It wasn’t until her twins' first birthday that the idea truly took shape.

Determined to celebrate their miracle milestone in a big way, Sara planned an unforgettable party—venue, mariachi, tacos, and of course, stunning decor done all by herself. Guests were so impressed they began asking who did the decorations. “With a little push from my husband and close friends, Twice As Nice HTX was born,” she says.

The Highs and Lows of Juggling It All
“Balancing motherhood and business feels like a beginner juggling act some days,” she admits. “Other days, I feel like I’m on top of the world.” Like many moms of littles, she gets most of her business work done during nap time or after bedtime.
Her advice to other moms thinking of starting a business? “Go for it! Because why not? No matter the outcome, you come out with knowledge and experience.”
Family Fun Time
When she’s not planning fabulous events, Sara treasures quality time with her family. “We love performances, experiences, going to the park. My husband and I always say we’re creating memories—but our kids are living their childhood.”
